“These girls are barely out of puberty!”
“Really?” he cried in disbelief.
“Yes,” I insisted.
He shrugged and went back to kissing the girl. I threw some
money on the table, then pulled him out the door.
“Bastard! I was doing well with her!” he whined, trying to keep
up.
“Congratulations, dummy. You managed to pick up on a
prostitute. You’re quite the stud. Let’s go find some that don’t have
training wheels on their underpants.”
“She was lovely though. You have to admit she was lovely, Jake.”
“It’s been a long time, hasn’t it Oscar?”
He sighed, “Does it show?”
“Don’t worry about it.” Suddenly I wondered if this was really

furthermore it would help him get in the mood. Not that he wasn’t
already.
We were led to a small stage surrounded by grubby-looking Thai
men and instructed to sit down. An older guy came to our table and
growled, “You drink something, yes?” Since we had barely tasted the
beers in Thai Me Up, we decided to give the Thai beer another
chance. Since the government supposedly skimmed three-quarters of
the price of Thai beers off the top, I assumed there wouldn’t be much
left for ingredients and manufacture. True to my suspicions, it was
bad, bitter and metallic.
A rather unattractive Thai couple came out on stage and
unimaginatively set to work. I felt embarrassed, but Oscar was
laughing and having a good time. In a few minutes it was over and
